Recently I have been consulting on interactive media projects for broadcasters, charities and other public sector organisations. These have included:
Commissioning strategy (European broadcaster)
Advised a European public service broadcaster on its approach to cross-platform commissioning (combining TV, radio and online). Jointly ran workshops with senior managers and co-authored subsequent recommendations.
Metadata project leadership (BBC R&D)
Pulled together the proposal for a collaborative project between BBC R&D and MetaBroadcast which won funding from the Technology Strategy Board. You can read more about the aims of the project on the BBC R&D blog.
Digital heritage strategy (SHAPING24)
Provided guidance to a collaborative heritage project between the cities of Norwich and Ghent. Co-authored the digital strategy for the UK lead partner Norwich HEART and for the SHAPING24 consortium as a whole.
Process review (BBC R&D)
Reviewed project management processes for the BBC R&D prototyping team and made recommendations for where these could be improved.
Local history feasibility (BBC Learning)
Evaluated the editorial and technical feasibility of a new television and online proposition to explore local history.
Online directory feasibility (Sheffield Hallam University)
Investigated the feasibility of creating and maintaining a national, online directory of the services available to offenders on behalf of the Hallam Centre for Community Justice.
Digital strategy (environmental charity)
Advised the UK arm of a major worldwide environmental charity on its approach to digital communications. Co-authored its digital strategy and produced a report predicting how communications will change over the next ten years.
Offline content feasibility (BBC Learning)
Investigated the editorial and technical feasibility of reversioning BBC Learning online content for use offline by those who don’t have ready access to the internet with a particular focus on offenders in prisons.
