Wildlife apps (BBC Natural History Unit)
Developed strategy and commissioning briefs for apps to support the BBC Wildlife Finder service.
Multi-touch product development (BBC R&D)
Project managed work to develop a prototype multi-touch device and applications to test how this technology could support television viewing in the future.
Music feasibility study (BBC Audio and Music)
Co-authored feasibility study looking at a proposed new service for the BBC music website.
P2P-Next (BBC R&D)
Oversaw the development of a new framework for creating timed, interactive media to support interactive video on the P2P-Next platform. P2P-Next is a four-year, EU-funded project that brings together a consortium of 21 academic and industrial players to build a next generation peer-to-peer (P2P) content delivery system.
Open Air location-based content (BBC)
Researched and developed a new strategy for location-aware content within BBC Learning. Managed the commissioning and development of a prototype mobile service BBC Open Air to build on this strategy, test location-finding technology, and gauge users’ reactions to the way local information is presented. Findings from this work influenced the development of BBC Things To Do.
Tree of Life (Wellcome Trust)
Recommended how Wellcome could extend the reach of its Tree of Life animation which it commissioned to mark the 200th anniversary of Darwin’s birth and the 150th anniversary of the publication of his book ‘On the Origin of Species’.

Worked for the Innovations Unit designing content and running technical trials of location-based services for mobiles and PDAs.
Producer, Discovery Broadband (Discovery Channel UK)
Devised editorial strategy, built business case and developed the prototype for Discovery’s UK broadband video-on-demand service. The service went live to the public in 2004, predating the BBC’s iPlayer and Channel 4′s 4oD services by several years.
Producer, Schools Broadband (BBC Factual and Learning)
Set up pilot to deliver broadband video-on-demand from the BBC Schools library. This project predated the BBC’s iPlayer and Jam services, and went on to form the basis of BBC Learning Zone Broadband Class Clips.
Development consultant, 16–24 (BBC Factual and Learning)
Co-authored proposal for a new cross-media service including mobile and interactive TV aimed at 16- to 24-year-olds, and launched this to senior stakeholders around the BBC. Findings from this work influenced the development of BBC Blast and outreach services for Radio 1.
